Hi, Rosemary!

So great to hear from you. I love that you are still so integrally involved with
Pinewood. It seems like a lifetime ago when I was involved out there. Although...I
have signed up for an audition for FOOTLOOSE! Figured there are some good roles for
"mothers" this year so might as well sees what happens. The Bowl environment has
been so energized in recent years and it would be fun to be involved if it works
out. If not, I'll still be in the audience with my kids like I am every year.

I was excited to get the letter about the April 26 celebration. I was set to write
and tell you that I'd love to do a song...and then I looked at my calendar. I'm
singing with Broad Appeal (womens trio) in Geneva on that day. Rats!

Hope you have a wonderful celebration. I'll be there in spirit!

Thanks for the email regarding the auditions. I posted the information at my high
school! The article in the Neighborhood Extra is very helpful, too.

Also, I plan to attend the April 26 reunion. My children live FAR away, so won't
attend, thogh we were all involved (in 1996-7 all four children and mom!)

Thanks for your advertisements.

(If you need anyone to play the piano/accompany any soloists, I could help.) :-)

Since I am slated to be giving a program in Omaha at 3:00 o'clock on April 26, I
send you my remembrances of my association with Pinewood Bowl, since they are quite
different from what others have experienced.
REMEMBRANCE OF DOROTHY UNGER APPLEBEE AT THE BOWL
I was a Camp Fire Girl who participated in the dedication ceremony back in 1942 or
1943, during World War II, in the big, "ditch" in Pioneers park where an outdoor
bowl was to be constructed, and dedicated to our armed forces personnel.
In June, 1948, I played for the graduation of Lincoln High School at the Bowl, and
in 1952, I filled in as a dancer for a couple of dances in the "Sweethears"
production, when the original dancer was called out of town. I had been the
accompanist who played for their rehearsals. Both of these events were on the
orginal stage.
After the new stage was built, I served as emcee for several dance teacher's who
collectively put on a dance review, and was accompanist for a Variety Show, that was
the victim of a downpour about half-way through. And then there were those cold,
cold organ keys as I played for Easter Sunrise Services for many years. For all of
thee events, I was on the stage.
I also was a member of the Pinewood Bowl Committee for several years, and in
addition, I sold food during the summer productions at the Women's Division of the
Chamber of Commerce concession stand at the back of the Bowl. So I've participated
from top to bottom at the Bowl. Happy Memories!
My granddaughter, Jamie Unger, has now replaced her grandma on the Pinewood Bowl
stage. After being part of the choruses in several productions, she shared the lead
in "Crazy for You." And the beat goes on!

I was excited to hear that there would be a diamond celebration of
Pinewood Bowl. As a cast member of 5 shows(Westside Story, My Fair
Lady, Camelot, and Jesus Christ Superstar) and board member for a number
of years, I really was glad for the possibility to see past friends and
being part of this celebration.

I don't know if I will be able to put together and provide
entertainment, but you on count on me being at the celebration on April
26th. I will have to look and see if I have some pictures. Do you want
the pictures ahead of time? Let me know.

See you there,

Larry Logsdon

Dear Rosemary,

First of all, I don't have your direct email, so I hope someone will forward this on
to you (when you get it, will you email me back so I'll know?)

Second, I was so happy to receive the very nice letter about the Pinewood Bowl
Diamond Anniversary celebration. What a lovely idea. Happily, I am in town that
weekend, so I look forward to joining you and everyone else who has contributed to
Pinewood over the years. I'll bring my checkbook too!

I so look forward to seeing you and catching up...it's been too long. I still have
so many fond memories of the wonderful shows we did.
